Frequently Asked Questions

Ordering, artwork, shipping, customs and quality — answered plainly.

Ordering

It depends on whether you use one of our stock designs or your own artwork. Stock catalogue designs start at 10 pieces — the tooling already exists, so there is no setup cost to spread across the order. Your own artwork starts at 50 pieces per design, because each new design carries a one-time $60 setup fee for colour profiling, a test print and press preparation. At 10 pieces that fee would cost you $6 per piece on top of the product; at 50 pieces it is $1.20. Within any order you can split the sizes however you like — for example 10 small, 20 medium, 15 large and 5 extra-large. There is no per-size minimum and no size multiplier, so mixing sizes never costs you extra.

Yes, freely. Sizes within one design can be split any way you want. On leashes you can also mix lengths — for example 20 five-foot and 30 four-foot leads in the same 50-piece order. The only things that must stay consistent within one design are the artwork and the webbing width.

Each custom design carries its own 50-piece minimum, because every one needs its own colour profile and press setup. So two colourways means two 50-piece runs. Stock designs have no such limit — you can mix them from 10 pieces total. If you want to test several product lines at once, our sets let you order four to six items under one minimum — see the Bundle Deals page.

Sample prices vary by product, because the products themselves vary — a sublimated aluminum tag and a four-piece harness do not cost the same to make. Each product page shows its own sample price, from $5.00 for name tags up to $27.50 for harnesses. One piece is enough; there is no sample minimum. If you want the sample in your own artwork rather than ours, add the one-time $60 setup fee per design. Both the sample cost and the setup fee are credited back against your first production order of 50 pieces or more. Shipping is charged at cost and quoted before we send anything.

50% deposit to start production, 50% before shipment. We accept bank transfer (T/T), PayPal, Wise and major credit cards. For sample orders we issue a single invoice covering the sample, the setup fee if applicable, and shipping — you are not chased for payment on delivery.

Artwork and printing

Vector files are best: AI, EPS or PDF. Raster files are fine too — PNG or TIFF at 300 DPI at your final print size. JPG works but compresses fine detail. Send CMYK if you can; if you send RGB we will convert it and email you a proof first, because some bright RGB greens and blues shift when printed.

It covers colour profiling and press setup for your specific artwork — test prints, matching your colours to the substrate, and preparing the press. It is charged once per design, not once per order. Reorders of the same approved design carry no setup fee. We absorb it and credit it back to you on your first production order of 50 pieces or more. This is also why stock designs start at 10 pieces while custom artwork starts at 50: on a stock design the tooling already exists, so there is nothing to set up.

Sublimation turns solid ink into a gas and bonds it into the polyester fibre, instead of laying a film on the surface. The practical difference is durability: there is no surface layer to crack, peel or flake off with flexing, which is the main way screen-printed and heat-transfer collars fail. It also means full-colour artwork, gradients and photographs print cleanly, edge to edge, with no white borders.

Text smaller than about 6 pt on webbing, hairlines under 0.5 pt, and pure-white artwork on white webbing. We check every file before production and tell you if something will not work at the size you need — you should not have to discover that when the samples arrive. There is one hard limit: sublimation only works on polyester and polymer-coated surfaces, so it cannot print on cotton, leather or bare metal.

No, not currently. Our tags are sublimation-coated blanks printed with a design you supply, so every tag in an order is identical. Engraving individual names one at a time needs different equipment. We would rather tell you that now than take the order and disappoint you. Our tags are the right product for a branded, logo or design tag — not for a tag carrying a unique pet name and phone number.

Shipping and customs

Stock samples ship in 3–5 business days. Custom samples take 7–10 business days after your artwork is approved. Production runs take 7–10 business days if you use one of our existing designs, and 15–20 business days for a fully custom design. Harnesses sit at the upper end of that range because they have more pattern pieces. Transit time is additional — typically 5–8 business days to the US by air express.

Samples and small batches go by DHL, UPS or FedEx express, door to door. Typical sample shipping to the US and Canada is $35–$55; to the UK, Australia and New Zealand we quote the exact courier rate for your postcode with the order. Larger orders move by air freight, and sea freight (LCL) becomes practical above roughly 1,500 pieces. We do not publish a flat freight rate, because it moves with fuel surcharges, season and your destination — instead we quote the exact figure on every invoice. Orders over $1,000 get 5% off freight, over $2,500 get 10%, and over $5,000 get 15%. Give us your postal code and we will quote a precise number rather than an estimate.

Yes. Since August 2025 the United States no longer grants de minimis duty-free entry to goods from China, so duty applies to shipments of any value — including a single sample. On top of the base rate, a further Section 301 surcharge took effect on 24 July 2026, so the combined duty on China-origin pet accessories is now commonly in the 20–40% range depending on the exact HTS code. The carrier usually adds a clearance handling fee as well, commonly $15–$25 or more. We will give you an estimated duty figure before we ship, and we supply the commercial invoice, packing list and HS codes with every order so you can work out your own landed cost.

The rules differ by destination, and several are actually easier than the US. Canada: most pet accessories enter duty-free or near-free under the customs tariff, but GST (5%) or HST (13–15% in participating provinces) applies at the border, and small shipments no longer enjoy meaningful tax relief. United Kingdom: UK Global Tariff rates on pet accessories are generally low (0–4%), with 20% VAT charged on import — VAT-registered businesses normally reclaim it, so it is not a real cost if you are registered. Australia: under the ChAFTA free-trade agreement most China-origin pet products enter duty-free with the right certificate of origin; 10% GST applies and is often collected at sale rather than border for low-value goods. New Zealand: similar to Australia — near-zero duty under the NZ-China FTA, plus 15% GST. We give you the estimated landed cost for your country in every written quote — ask for it and we will work it out with your postal code.

Yes. Our list prices are in USD, but on request we can issue proforma invoices in GBP, CAD, AUD or NZD, converted at the rate on the invoice date (we build a small exchange buffer into the quote, which is why our price is fixed for the validity period rather than floating daily). Payment arrives via bank transfer, PayPal or Wise in your local currency either way — just tell us which currency you want on the paperwork.

We can quote DDP — delivered duty paid, with freight and duty included in one price — on a per-order basis. Because duty rates on China-origin goods have changed several times since 2025 and are still moving, we do not publish a fixed DDP rate. Ask us for a DDP quote on your specific order and quantity and we will price it. Our default is otherwise DAP: we pay freight to your door and you pay the duty.

No. Under-declaring is customs fraud in both the United States and China, and the penalties fall on the people named on the paperwork — which would include you as the importer. We declare the full transaction value on every shipment. What we can do is give you accurate HS codes and product descriptions so you can estimate your own landed cost before you order, and quote DDP so the duty is settled up front instead of arriving as a surprise.

Proposition 65 requires warnings on products sold in California that contain listed chemicals above safe-harbour levels. Our printed polyester and coated aluminum components are not formulated with the substances most commonly implicated, but we have not had independent testing done on every batch, so we will not claim an exemption we cannot document. If you sell in California, ask us for the current material specifications and have your own compliance review — that is the only way to be certain, and we would rather say this plainly than have you find out later.

Quality and after-sales

Every batch is inspected at our own facility before it ships. We check print registration, colour against your approved sample, stitching, hardware and sizing, then photograph the goods and send you the photographs for approval. Nothing leaves until you have seen them. This is also how we document the condition of an order if a dispute arises later.

If the fault is ours — a printing error, wrong sizes, or damage caused in production — we replace the goods free of charge. If damage happened in transit on a shipment you arranged through your own forwarder, the claim goes to the carrier and we supply every document you need to file it. Please photograph any problem before you start using or reselling the goods; that is what makes a replacement fast.

Sublimated ink sits inside the fibre rather than on top of it, so it does not wash out or crack the way a surface print does. We recommend cold machine washing and hang drying for bandanas and fabric items to maximise the life of both the print and the stitching. Collars, leashes and harnesses are rated for normal outdoor wear. If you are selling to customers in very high-UV climates, ask us about a colour sample — some bright pigments fade faster than others in sustained direct sun.

Yes. We can supply clean white-background product photographs of your finished order, which you are free to use in your Etsy, Shopify or Amazon listings. Many small sellers find this is worth as much as the unit price, because product photography is expensive to arrange separately. Just ask when you place the order so we shoot them during inspection.

You do. We use your artwork only to produce your order, and we never reuse a customer's design for another buyer or list it in our own catalogue. If you send us a design we suspect is not yours to license — a sports team logo, a trademarked character, a brand mark — we will raise it before production rather than after, because counterfeit goods get seized at customs and the loss lands on you.

Still have a question? Email us and we will answer within 24 hours on business days. If it is easier, we can arrange a video call — sometimes five minutes on a call settles what would take twenty emails.
